How about this then? The Yamarin 80 DC, a Nordic day cruiser with a proper side deck rather than a step-through screen. The point of this new design is to make a quintessentially Nordic boat feel more “international” and it absolutely works.


To help make the new co*panionway function properly, the port furniture is neatly tapered, both in terms of the cleverly expandable wet bar and the two seats that bookend it.


On the other side, a huge C-shaped dinette makes great use of a reversible backrest at the twin helm to extend the seating forward and a drop-down backrest at the stern bench to extend the sunbathing space aft.

There’s also an easy-access quick-rig bimini in a dedicated co*partment behind the aft bench – and when you move to the foredeck up a couple of gentle steps, there’s another big sunbathing space, plus a broad, practical step-through bow.


As for the cabins, the bright forward double co*es with massive windows and a neat aft-facing chaise longue beneath the side deck mouldings.


But it’s the guest double that really shines, thanks to a remarkably co*fortable fore-and-aft bed beneath the starboard dinette that trumps the transverse bed of the more conventional 88DC flagship in every conceivable way.
