Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0814 PM CDT Mon Jun 20 2022

Valid 210100Z - 211200Z

...THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS CENTRAL
AND NORTHEASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA...FAR SOUTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA...AND
PARTS OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL MINNESOTA...

...SUMMARY...
Severe storms will continue across parts of the northern Great
Plains and into the Upper Mississippi Valley vicinity this evening.
Destructive wind gusts and large hail are likely, and a tornado or
two remain possible.

...North-central states...
Strong to severe storms -- in both cells and clusters -- continue
moving northeastward across the north-central U.S. this evening, in
the vicinity of a slowly advancing cold front extending from
northern Minnesota to northwestern Nebraska.

Near and ahead of the front, a very moist/unstable airmass is
observed, fueling the vigorous/ongoing convection.  With
moderate/veering flow with height providing favorable shear,
organized/severe storms will continue through the evening.  Along
with risks for large hail, and possibly a tornado or two,
strong/damaging wind gusts appear to be a particular concern within
a corridor from central South Dakota to central and northern
Minnesota.

...Florida...
While scattered to isolated thunderstorms linger across western and
southern Florida, stronger storms have moved offshore.  While a
locally strong wind gust could still occur this evening, severe risk
has diminished below MRGL criteria.
