Solar Opposites is going supernova. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu’s first family of aliens is finally leaving Earth, with the streamer announcing that the show’s upco*ing season will be its last. No date has been set yet, but the final episodes will land in the fall, giving fans plenty of time to get their affairs in order. While a release date eludes us, Hulu did announce a slate of guest stars for the final episodes, including Tiffany Haddish, Kieran Culkin, Christina Hendricks, Alfred Molina, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Beck Bennett. Solar Opposites is even breaking the glass on Ken Marino, bringing him to voice an unknown role while knowing full well that audiences will be powerless to resist him.
The series has had a quiet run on Hulu these past five years. Created by Mike McMahan and disgraced animation honcho Justin Roiland, the series followed a family of aliens who crash land on Earth and find themselves stuck there, observing Earth life with that distinctive Rick And Morty charm. Perhaps the most notable turn in the series was Roiland’s ousting amid numerous abuse allegations and a domestic violence charge that was ultimately dismissed. Roiland voiced the main character Korvo for the first three seasons. After his exit, Dan Stevens took over the role for the final three—as if that guy didn’t have enough going on.
